PRIVATE DENNIS GOODE

Dennis Goode of 8 Winchester Road, Rushden, was the son of George and Eva Goode.
He was killed in February 1944, aged 20 years, in an air raid whilst in London, and is commemorated at Rushden Cemetery, Grave F.627, and also on the Co-operative Society Roll of Honour.
Dennis was educated at the Rushden Intermediate School, and had worked in several departments of the Co-op, lastly at the Wellinborough Road store. He was remembered "for being tall, lanky and very reserved".
He was called up in 1942 and was in the 21st Armoured Division of the Northamptonshire Regiment.
The funeral took place at his home and the service was conducted by the Rev. N.P.Goldhawk of the Park Road Methodist Church. At the cemetery were representatives of Park Road Methodist Church and Bible Class, and various branches of the Rushden Co-operative Society were also present.
